MY ART SEEKS TO EXPRESS WHAT IT MEANS TO BE HUMAN
I want to show that every life has a tremendous amount of joy, love, confusion, as well as pain and loss. I want to convey that all emotions - positive or negative - are a part of the human experience

HEART
THE
When we refer to love, we often think about someone else. We continually seek a partner that makes us feel loved, happy, and complete. Yet, many times, we are incapable of giving ourselves that love we are looking for in someone else. This sculpture represents the need for self-love. This man is in pain and empty because he gives others the love he should give to himself. When we love ourselves, we make decisions based on our well-being, we pay attention to our dreams, healing, and emotional needs. Only then, we recognize that we don't need to be perfect and that we don't have to sacrifice parts of our identity for others to love us.

THE EMOTIONAL
CREATURE
Surrender by beauty, flowers, and gold
He feels defeated, guilty, sad, and alone
Sometimes his emotions get out of control
He wishes he had someone to love
He is desperately looking for someone else
A person that can fill his needs and his wants
But with that way of approaching his life
His unfulfilled wishes will remain intact
“Stop looking outside, and give to yourself
the love and compassion that so often you crave.
Meet your own needs, for god sake.”
That is what his brain constantly say
However, his brain is not the one that dictates
Because up in his head, a heart remains
Giving him sadness and emotional pain
An unbreakable cage that he cannot escape.

PUAS
He once got hurt, he experienced pain.
His tears fabricated the sharp fence around him.
He doesn’t need anybody close to him.
He is a lonely creature pushing everybody away.
He avoids his feelings day after day.
Drinking daily to make his emotions go away.
Time has passed, and new people have arrived.
However, fear continues to control his life.

NUMB
He has no strength to stand up from his bed
Which has been shaped by tears, regrets, and lament
While looking without energy into the empty space
He can only feel his heavy extremities and empty chest
Can someone teach him how to trust again
After lies, disappointments, and emotional pain
Can someone explain to him how to heal this time
From wounds, betrayals, and an overwhelming past
No hopeful future is visible in his mind
He only sees melancholy and a turbulent path
However, even the strongest emotions die overtime
He will be fine. Eventually, he will stand up.

HOPE
LESSNESS
He has no energy
no goals, no hope.
He is in a cage,
victim of his own thoughts.

SMILE
His eyes are focused solely on his suffering and he is consumed by his emotions, stuck in a valley of tears. How much longer will he wait for his unrealistic picture of a perfect life? Is he willfully ignorant of the simple wonders in life despite his pain?

WE
THE
SINNERS
Actions that we often label as sinful are nothing more than a response to our environment and current circumstances. Something to help us cope with a situation, a way to escape our realities, or a pull away from pain, stress, and trauma.

LONELINESS
“Being alone is not a life sentence. I know it feels like it at the time, but I promise you, you won’t be alone for the rest of your life. […] Being alone is sometimes incredibly painful. Feel how painful it is, know that feeling will pass, and you will feel great again. […] More than anything, know that you are never totally alone. You have people [that] are glad you exist, even in the most basic level. Life can always get better, it can.”
